Can the : Two new folding cellphones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, are confirmed to have received support for accessing the 5G network.
But can you access the 5G network in Indonesia, and when can you do it?
Even though it has been confirmed that it has 5G connectivity, unfortunately, Samsung’s two new folding cellphones are currently unable to provide 5G services in Indonesia.
Verry Octavianus as Product Marketing Manager of Samsung Mobile, Samsung Electronics Indonesia stated that currently his party is still in the stage of collaborating with cellular operators to activate the 5G internet network on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3.
“It is hoped that the end of the year or the third quarter (Q3) 2021 will be active. We will announce it when the 5G feature is opened,” he said.
This announcement, added Verry, was made after cooperation with cellular operators was completed, such as the inauguration to the 5G trial.
Verry continued, consumers who have purchased the two devices also don’t have to worry about unlocking the features to enjoy 5G internet in Indonesia.
“Later there will be a software update,” he explained.
In line with Verry, Taufiq Furqan as Product Marketing Manager of Samsung Mobile, Samsung Electronics Indonesia ensures that it will announce that 5G internet can already be enjoyed on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3.
“When can 5G be used on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3? We will inform you later,” said Taufiq.
Unfortunately, Samsung Indonesia did not reveal which frequency bands are supported on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. Because to enjoy 5G, the phone must support the n3 band or 1.8 GHz frequency band and the n40 or 2.3 GHz band.
So far, only Telkomsel and Indosat Ooredoo have officially announced the commercialization of 5G in Indonesia. Telkomsel itself uses the 2.3 GHz frequency band, while Indosat Ooredoo uses 1.8 GHz.
The next 5G internet service will be carried out by XL Axiata. It is known that the operator will use a radio frequency spectrum of 1.8 GHz with a bandwidth of 20 MHz in the range of 1807.5-1,827.5 MHz.
We’ll just have to wait until when the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 foldable phones get 5G network support in Indonesia.
