 Launch Global Oppo Reno8 : After officially launching in the Chinese market last May, Oppo launched its Oppo Reno 8 series globally. There are two Oppo Reno 8 models launched globally, namely the “regular” Oppo Reno 8 and the Oppo Reno 8 Pro. There are a number of differences found from the Oppo Reno 8 series which was launched in the Chinese and global markets. First, the launch of the global version of the Oppo Reno 8 series only presents two models, the Oppo Reno 8 and Oppo Reno 8 Pro versions.

While in China, there are three models, namely the Oppo Reno 8, Oppo Reno 8 Pro, and Oppo Reno 8 Plus versions. Second, the chip that Oppo has embedded in the Reno 8 Pro in China is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, while the global version of the Reno 8 Pro is powered by the Dimensity 8100 chip. while the global version of the Oppo Reno 8 Pro has only one variant, namely 8/256 GB.

Oppo Reno 8 specifications

In terms of screen, the global version of the Oppo Reno 8 carries an AMOLED panel screen with a 6.4-inch span. The screen resolution is Full HD Plus with a refresh rate of up to 90Hz. The design of the screen that is owned is a punch hole screen. Unlike the Android screen model in general, the punch hole of this phone is pinned on the left side of the screen. The design on the back of the Oppo Reno 8 uses plastic material, so it gives a matte impression on the back. Then, there is a logo that reads “Oppo” vertically below the right of the back.

Oppo Reno 8 has three cameras, namely the main Sony IMX766 50 MP, f/1.8 camera, with omni-directional PDFAF. 8 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2 MP macro camera. Meanwhile, the selfie camera on the front is IMX709 32 MP. The camera has better auto focus and a wider range. This is because the IMX709 and IMX766 support DOL-HDR with a wider dynamic range. In the kitchen runway, Oppo Reno 8 is powered by Dimensity 1300 which is designed with 6 nm fabrication.

The CPU is eight cores in two clusters, namely 4x Cortex A48 and 4x Cortex A55, while for the GPU it uses the older generation, Mali-G77 MC9. The chipset series will be combined with 8 GB of LPDDR4X type RAM and 256 GB of storage capacity (UFS 3.1). However, this storage capacity variant is not present in India, as the country will only offer a 128 GB storage variant.

Unlike the “regular” Oppo Reno 8, the Oppo Reno 8 Pro indeed adopts the punch hole model. However, the punch hole is placed at the top center of the screen. In addition to the shape of the screen model, the back of the Oppo Reno 8 Pro phone is also different. The material used is glass so that it gives a glossy accent to create a more luxurious feel than the “regular” version.

Moving on to the photography sector, the Oppo Reno 8 Pro has the same camera configuration as the “regular” Oppo Reno 8, namely a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 32MP selfie camera. In the kitchen runway, the Oppo Reno 8 Pro is powered by the Dimensity 8100-Max chipset which is designed with 5 nm fabrication.

The chip has eight cores consisting of 4 Cortex-A78 and 4 Cortex A55. The embedded GPU is the Mali-G610 MC6. The Image Signaling Processor (ISP) of the Oppo Reno 8 Pro is capable of producing good images. Because image processing in the “Pro” version uses more chips made by Oppo, namely MariSilicon X. This series of chips will be accompanied by two RAM variants, namely 8GB RAM and 256 GB storage capacity, and 12 GB RAM with 256 GB capacity.

OS and other features

Both phones run the ColorOS 12.1 operating system based on Android 12. For power resistance, the Oppo Reno 8 series has a battery capacity of 4,500mAh. The Oppo Reno 8 series can both use the 80 watt SuperVOOC feature so that charging can reach 50 percent in 11 minutes.

For users who like to play games, charging the cellphone can be done in five minutes and can last for the next two hours. However, only certain countries have a power output of 66 watts. The Battery Health Engine owned by these two smart phones is able to reduce battery degradation (damage) so that it can extend battery life by 1,600 charging times.

The price of the Oppo Reno 8 global version

of the “regular” Oppo Reno 8 has two color variants, namely Shimmer Gold and Shimmer Black. While the Oppo Reno 8 Pro comes in Glazed Green and Glazed Black colors. For the price of the global version of the Oppo Reno 8, in India, this phone is priced at 39,000 rupees (approximately Rp. 7.3 million).

While the price of the Oppo Reno 8 Pro is priced at 46,000 rupees (around Rp. 8.6 million) for the 8/256 GB version. This phone is also available in 12 GB RAM variant. The global launch is rumored to be present in Japan and India first.
